These activities can be adapted as required. 
A 'step by step' guide is included for each activity which lists the resources which are needed and gives detailed instructions for completing the activity.  Extension sheets are also included for some of the activities which can be completed back at school or at home.


 
Candle Rolling:

   

Make a wax candle to take home.

Fingerprint 'Bee' Poster:

A school class can make a 'bee colony'  poster to display in their classroom.

Hexagon & Circle Shape Game:

This activity can be done both indoors or outdoors.

Encourage the children to talk about how the shapes are different and what they notice about how they fit together. 
What is the maximum number they can fit for each shape?
They can start again and try a different arrangement of shapes or try mixing circles and hexagons together.

Cardboard Insects:


Encourage children to think about what makes an ‘insect’?   Discuss two sets of wings and 6 legs.
What type of habitat might the insect live in and why?

Life Cycle Paper Plates:

      

Younger children can cut out life cycle clip art to stick on the plates.
Older children can draw and colour in the different life cycle stages directly onto the plate.
Children can also add the number of days it takes for each of the life cycle stages.

Mosaic Flower:

             

Discuss how bees see differently to us and how flowers use ultra violet light to guide bees to the nectar in their nectaries so they can be pollinated.

You can purchase 'bug eye' glasses which enable children to experience 'how a bee sees'.

Origami Flowers:

     

Simple origami flowers which children can easily make.
Discuss with children how flowers use ultra violet light to guide bees to the nectar in their nectaries so they can be pollinated.
